In 2015, the artist Nela Barbosa commissioned the local partner company SPL, lda to transform an existing office building on the Cape Verdean island of Santiago. Together with architect Luis Pires and the SPL, I realized the conversion into a multifunctional gallery - whereby my focus was on the design. We were able to complete the project within the first half of the year and the gallery was successfully opened in June 2015 to great public interest.
There is an album with photos and/or illustrations for this project in the gallery: View photos/illustrations
The biggest challenge of this project was the extremely short deadline of just four months. Despite this tight schedule, we managed to transform the office building into a versatile space that includes a studio with several presentation areas and a relaxation area. Special lighting installations give the gallery an inviting atmosphere with a lounge character, making it a pleasant place for visitors to stay.
The gallery is located in Praia (district: Palmareijo) on the Cape Verdean island of Santiago.
