In 2018, SPL, lda was commissioned with the conversion of an existing parliament building on the Cape Verdean island of Santiago. The project aimed to both functionally and architecturally upgrade the main meeting room. These adaptations were carried out jointly by myself and the local architect Luis Pires from SPL, lda.

The main challenge was to transform the originally rectangular hall into a modern, round plenary hall. A concentric layout was developed that allows tables and chairs to be arranged flexibly - ideal for different meeting formats and votes. This conversion not only significantly improved the functionality of the hall, but also underlined its symbolic importance as a central location for democratic processes.
The building is located on Santiago, Cape Verde.
