In 1998, I took part in the exciting competition “Das Starterhaus”, which was organized by the mortgage lender BHW and the magazine “ZuhauseWohnen”. My design convinced the jury with an innovative concept: an atrium crowned by a glass roof, designed as a communicative and versatile space. This idea won me first place and was awarded the prize on April 2, 1998 at a journalists' conference in Berlin on the subject of “Building and Living in the 21st Century" The following picture gives an impression of the concept:

Challenges

The task was to design a cost-effective and expandable house that was specifically tailored to the needs of young families. The specifications were a living space of at least 110 square meters in the first expansion stage and construction costs of no more than DM 2,000 per square meter - a challenge that required a high degree of creativity and planning skill.

The prize was handed over in Berlin.
