Highlights: Ocean Sience Center Mindelo
The Ocean Sience Center Mindelo is an industrial building/research center project on the Island Sao Vicente (Cape Verde). It was jointly commissioned by the german Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research (GEOMAR) and the National Institute for Fisheries Development (INDP) and thus is one of my intercultural projects. I was working on that project from 2013 to 2018.
Challenges
During the planning phases it was particularly challenging to accommodate the desired functions (workshop, laboratories and offices) in a compact design. Furthermore, the sustainability and the use of natural resources (e. g. for ventilation and energy recovery) was in focus.
